Pair your Android phone with NotiVR
Requirements
- Android phone with the NotiVR companion app
- Both your PC and phone on the same local network
- NotiVR running on your PC
Guide
Install the Companion App
Download the NotiVR companion app from the Google Play Store. Either click the link or scan the QR code in the setup wizard on your PC.
Once the app is installed, open it and proceed to the next step.
Pair your Phone
- On your PC, click "I've installed the app".
- On your phone, click "Find your PC".
- You will see a list of PCs on your network. Tap the "Connect" button under your PC's name.
- Accept the pairing request in NotiVR on your PC.
If your phone cannot find your PC, switch to the Manual pairing tab.
If automatic discovery doesn't find your PC (common on corporate or guest networks that block mDNS), you can connect manually:
- Tap Having trouble? Connect manually in the discovery screen
- Either scan the QR code shown in NotiVR's Android setup page on your PC, or type the IP address manually
Note: Manual pairing is not as reliable as automatic mode. In addition, if your PC's IP address changes, you will need to pair your phone again, automatic mode handles this for you.
Grant Permissions
In order for NotiVR to function correctly, make sure you approve the permissions popups on your phone.
- Allow NotiVR to send notifications. Due to an Android limitation this is needed to keep the app running in the background.
- Grant notification access to NotiVR. Follow the link in the popup and allow NotiVR to have notification access.
If you are unable to grant notification access, try the following:
- Go to **Settings > Notifications > Device & App Notifications ** (path varies by device manufacturer)
- Find NotiVR in the list
- Tap it and ensure the "Allow notifications" toggle is enabled
Test your connection
Once you've granted permissions you should see a "Connected to X" notification on your PC.
If you don't see the notification, try tapping "Connect/Disconnect" in the bottom right of the companion app.
