Notification Display

Configure how notifications appear in VR

Control the appearance and behavior of notification overlays in your VR headset. These settings are found on the Notifications tab.

Notification System

NotiVR supports two notification display systems:

  • NotiVR (default) — the built-in notification overlay with full customization
  • XSOverlay — forwards notifications to XSOverlay instead (requires XSOverlay to be installed and owned on Steam)

When using XSOverlay, the overlay appearance settings below are disabled since XSOverlay controls its own display.

Duration

How long the notification stays visible in your VR view.

  • Range: 0.5 – 10 seconds
  • Default: 3 seconds

This setting applies to both NotiVR and XSOverlay modes.

Opacity

How transparent the notification background is.

  • Range: 0% (fully transparent) – 100% (fully opaque)
  • Default: 60%

Only available when using the NotiVR display system.

Height

How close to the center of your vision the notification appears. Lower values place the notification further below your line of sight; higher values bring it closer to center.

  • Range: 1 (low) – 10 (center)
  • Default: ~3

Only available when using the NotiVR display system.

Distance

How far from your head the notification appears. Lower values place it closer; higher values push it further away.

  • Range: 1 (close) – 10 (far)
  • Default: ~5

Only available when using the NotiVR display system.
